AIM Precourse for New Administrators
This precourse provides new business administrators in departments of internal medicine and their associated divisions an overview of the management aspects involved in the tripartite mission of internal medicine: research, education, and patient care. This precourse is designed for new department or division business administrators; new practice plan and research administrators may also find the precourse of interest.
CDIM Precourse for New Clerkship Directors
This precourse is designed to help orient new internal medicine clerkship directors to their positions. Experienced faculty will lead discussions of evaluation and grading, curriculum development, teaching strategies, and career development of the clerkship director. Interested participants will be assigned a mentor from the CDIM membership. This precourse is designed for the clerkship director with fewer than three years of experience in this position.
CDIM Precourse for Medical Student Educators
This precourse is designed to focus on the areas of educational learning theory and career development for undergraduate medical educators. Through didactic sessions and interactive case presentations, precourse participants will improve understanding of how to apply educational theory to the clerkship. Expert panels will discuss building the educator’s portfolio and different career path options for the clerkship director. This precourse is designed for faculty and staff involved in medical student education.
CDIM Precourse for Clerkship Administrators
This precourse is designed to facilitate the exchange of ideas and share unique solutions to administrative responsibilities. Presentations will address leadership, career development, communication, and presentation skills. Ample time will be allowed for networking. This precourse is designed for staff who administer the internal medicine clerkship or who interact regularly with students and residents in an educational context; administrators at all experience levels are welcome.
APDIM Precourse for New Residency Program Directors and Administrators
This precourse is designed to provide new program directors and administrators an intense one-day mixed educational experience (plenary, workshop, and small group sessions) led by experienced faculty and staff. Participants will gather a “toolbox” of practical knowledge and skills to ensure success as a leader and manager as well as a network of new and experienced program directors and administrators. This precourse is designed for residency program directors, associate program directors, and program administrators with fewer than three years experience in their roles.
